The Tyne & Wear ICT and e-Government
Partnership brings together the five
Tyne & Wear Authorities' Heads of ICT
and e-government, with the aim of
sharing experience and progressing
eGovernment initiatives for the
benefit of the region.
The Solution
Connect were commissioned by the Tyne
and Wear ICT e-Government Partnership
to develop a Community Service Portal,
delivered via a network of
on-street kiosks in Tyne and Wear.
Connect provided its off-the-shelf
content management product, ConnectCMS
to enable the local authorities to
pull information together and present
it in the most user-friendly way
possible.
The portal joins up content so that
users can see one council’s content
from a kiosk in another council’s
area. Information and services for all
five councils is pulled together and
made available via the kiosks. Also
accessible via the kiosks is what’s on
listings, tourist
information,Crimestoppers, transport
information and BBC news and sport.
